A white crystalline powder, freely soluble in water which acts as an antiviral drug. It inhibits the replication of virus by interfering the un-coating of virus inside the cell. Amantadine acts as an M2 inhibitor inside the virus and blocks the ironic channel formed by the M2 protein.
Composition: Each gm contains Amantadine HCl BP 100mg
Pharmacological Group: Antiviral
Amantadine is well absorbed orally with peak concentration after 3 hours and a half life of 17 hours. Excreted unchanged in the urine by glomerular filtration and tubular secretion.
